There has been a lot of discussion lately about extreme vetting in order to enter the United States. This past presidential election put the topic of vetting at the forefront of our immigration policy and has caused quite a bit of controversy. There are many in our country who believe that a detailed examination of someone wanting to enter our country runs against the grain of the charitable culture of our society. They also believe that it is unreasonable to ask them to assimilate into our American way of life, even though it is well documented that our “American culture” is significantly based on Judeo-Christian values. This does not mean that you have to be a Christian or any other religion, but you do need to honor our traditional American values and the way we govern.
Is there going to be vetting in order to get into Heaven? You don’t have to be a Bible scholar to know the answer to that question…YES! You can read what Luke said in Acts 4:12 and what Jesus said in John 14:6 to give you an idea of the requirements. And for those of you who think that God is going to have an open gate policy, you need to read what Jesus said in the Sermon on the Mount in Matthew 7:13-14: “Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it”. And by the way, I don’t know if there is an actual wall and gate to get into Heaven, but I do know this…Revelation 21:12 mentions both a gate and a wall!
