Be Careful About Mocking God

Like many of you, I watched two separate episodes on national TV networks last month that ridiculed two political appointees that rely on God for clarity when making decisions.

The first happened on ABC’s “The View” where cohost Joy Behar mocked and made fun of Vice President Mike Pence for having conversations with God when making difficult decisions. I listened as the audience and a couple of the other cohost laughed at the possibility of someone communicating with God for wisdom when making secular decisions. Their public mocking of Mike Pence and Christians like him reminded me of Galatians 6:7: “Do not be deceived, God will not be mocked; for whatever a man sows, this he will also reap”. (NASB) I know Joy Behar said she was a Christian during this exchange, I would be curious to know if she has ever come across this passage during her Bible study?

The next episode was maybe 10 days later when Larry Kudlow was being interviewed on MSNBC by a female host who wanted to know why he was interested in being President Trumps new Economic Adviser. I’m paraphrasing here, but he said that he was depending on God for clarity, but if he could help the United States in some way he would. He said he would depend on God for an answer. As the interview ended, the tv screen went from a split screen of two head shots to a single shot of just the female interviewer. She then shrugged her shoulders and said, “Just what we need, another politician depending on God for an answer”. (Paraphrased). This verse immediately came to mind. Psalm 9:17: “The wicked shall be turned into hell, and all the nations that forgot God”. (NKJV). I’m not being judgmental, hypocritical, or self-righteousness, I have a hard-enough time myself trying to be obedient to God.

I know this from reading my Bible, he is a jealous God and he takes his Sovereignty serious. I’m just repeating what He said!!
