I have been a college coach for 32 years (Alabama, Auburn, Florida State, West Virginia, Kentucky, Duke, Tulane, and Clemson). I hold a record as head coach for 90 wins in eleven and a half years and I've never had a losing season. Some of my other accomplishments:
- undefeated season, in 1998 at Tulane. Finished 7th in the final Coaches Poll.
- time Conference coach of the Year (Conference USA-1 time, ACC Coach of the Year-2 times)
- time National Coach of the Year Finalist.
I have been actively involved with faith based speaking for at least 20 years. I have been involved with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes for over 30 years and speaker for fundraisers and conferences. A couple of years ago I was chosen as the FCA National Coach of the year. A lot of my speaking engagements have been at men's conferences mainly in the southeast but as far away as New Mexico and Dallas. While as the Head Coach at Clemson (10yrs.) I would speak at churches during the off-season (February - June) about 3 Sundays a month and attend my own church the remaining Sunday.
I accepted Christ and was baptized at the age of 12 and have been a Southern Baptist my whole life. I enjoy Bible history and I am just finishing my 4th time reading the Bible through with study guides, a 14 year project. I believe the Bible is the inerrant and infallible Word of God and in the literal interpretation.
My wife and I fulfilled a life long dream with a 10 day trip to Israel last summer with my father and mother.
